Knowing all about LL.M Entrance Exam.

Students desirous of doing Masters in Law have to opt for LL.M Course.This course is becoming very popular because scope for teaching in legal arena is expanding with the opening of new law schools across the country.Doing LL.M from a good law school opens the door for a rewarding career in teaching field.Details regarding LL.M course follows:-

1. POST-GRADUATE PROGRAMME OFFERED BY NATIONAL LAW UNIVERSITIES THROUGH CLAT
  • Two Year LL.M Degree Course
  • Important Note:CNLU,Patna and NUSRL,Ranchi do NOT offer this course.
  • NLUO offers Conjoint LL.M-Ph.D Programme
  • Pattern of the CLAT Paper for Post-Graduate Programme
  • Total Marks-200
  • Duration of examination-Two Hours
  • Multiple-choice Questions(100 questions of 1 mark each) - Pertaining to subject areas,namely,Law of Contracts,Law of Torts,Criminal Law,Constitutional Law and Legal Theory.
  • Short-answer questions(100 Marks)-10 questions of 10 marks each
 2.BANARAS HINDU UNIVERSITY, VARANASI

Eligibility: 3-year LL.B after graduation under atleast 10+2+3 pattern or five years LL.B under 10+2+5 pattern recognized by the Bar Council of India securing a minimum of 50% marks in the aggregate in LL.B Degree.

Test Pattern
  1. LL.M-There shall be one paper of 120 minutes duration carrying 450 marks containing 150 multiple-choice questions on Jurisprudence,Constitutional Law,Law of Contracts,Law of Torts,Law of Crimes,Environmental Law, Public International Law,Indian Evidence Act,Hindu Law and Muslim Law.
  2. LL.M.(Human Rights and Duties Education)(Special Courses of Study)---There shall one paper of 120 minutes duration carrying 450 marks containing 150 multiple-choice questions on Jurisprudence, Constitutional Law , Law of Crimes, Public International Law, Indian Evidence Act, Criminal Procedure Code, Law of Human Rights and Law and child and Law and women.
Negative Marking - There shall be negative marking in entrance test.Three marks shall be awarded for each correct answer while one mark shall be deducted for each incorrect answer.
 3.UNIVERSITY OF DELHI, DELHI

Eligibility: LL.B Degree(3 years/5 years course) with 50% marks for general Candidates; Relaxation upto 5% marks for PH: and 45% marks for SC/ST/CW and OBC Candidates.

Negative Marking - For every correct answer 4 marks will be awarded and for every wrong answer 1 mark will be deducted.
 4. NATIONAL LAW UNIVERSITY, DELHI

Eligibility For Admission: To be eligible to appear for admission to LL. M Programme, a candidate should have passed the LL.B or an equivalent degree from a recognised University with not less than 55% marks in aggregate (50% in case of reserved categories, i.e. SC/ST/Persons with Disability).


The admission for Foreign Nationals shall be made on the basis of:
  • Academic record of LL.B. or equivalent Degree recognized by UGC/ Association of Indian Universities with not less than 55% marks or equivalent grade.
  • Assessment of necessary communication skills in written and spoken English and performance at the interview in terms of aptitude and capacity.
Admission Procedure:
  • The admission shall be through a written test to be conducted by the University followed by Interview.
  • Candidates awaiting results of the qualifying examination can appear for the Entrance Test subject to a condition that they produce proof of having passed the qualifying examination with the prescribed percentage of marks at the time of interview.
  • The total number of seats will be 20 with the following reservations:-
    General 75%
    Scheduled Caste 15%
    Scheduled Tribe 7.5%
    Persons with Disability 2.5%
  • Admission for Foreign Nationals: 5 seats are allotted to Foreign National candidates possessing the Citizenship of a country other than India will only be considered under this category. The Foreign Nationals are exempted from taking the Admission Test.
  • The vacant seats under Foreign National Category shall be filled from the General Category candidates in order of merit.
